PRO TIPS!
Rethinking Sucks. Just kidding. But seriously, I’ve written and rewritten this post about 15 times?! So let’s do this, baby! Three Cheers for fun and cheeky ways to plant succulents!!! All of these images are from client projects over the years, and although this may seem like a no-brainer article for most of you, I thought it was worth sharing because so often people can get stuck in the “off the rack” succulent planters from big box stores. I’ve found that planting succulents this way stops people in their tracks, and it definitely makes rooms a little more lively and interesting. So heeeeeere is what we did!
Why do I think this is so funny?! Got en ole’ wooden set o’ legs lying around? Fill them with succulents! It’s sculptural and adds height to a room. We found a fun wooden leg if you want to snap it up in our shop the look slider below!
Extra sequin high heals you no longer wear? Perfect planters! The succulents need so little water, you can get away with using shoes as planters. *Wrap the insides with a layer of cling wrap if you want added moisture protection.
My hubs and I found this old piece of wood years ago as newlyweds. He drilled four large holes in it (big enough to hold empty spice jars), and *boom*, a cool planter! Confession: these succulents are fake because nothing is beneath me…but I still think they look cool!
Ya gotta mannequin torso handy? Great, fill her head and create a conversation starter! I really wish she had some green, trailing varieties mixed in to give her curls, but ya can’t always get everything….;) Try this alternative look yourselves and send us the pics!
I love this look on a kitchen table! Using funky heirlooms and weird candlesticks as planters is a great way to display things you treasure while adding an evergreen centerpiece.
Wanna be a lil’ more literal? These planters are an easy way to green up a wall without watering mess, and they’re a snap to install!
We did the shopping for you!
Here are some new and vintage planters that we think are fun, annnnd, if you want some fake succulents, we gotcha covered!!
